BIOGRAPHY



Megan Drabant is an ambitious performer with a passion for writing and dance science. A native of Algonac, Michigan, she began her training at Main Stage Center for the Arts and continued her education at Wayne State University graduating with a BFA in Dance. While at Wayne State, Drabant performed works by Wanjiru Kamuyu, Nathan Trice, Ron Todorowski, Ray Mercer, Ron De Jesus, and Sonya Tayeh. She has also had the opportunity to study under Meg Paul, Jeff Rebudal, Ariel Osterweis, Ralph Lemon, Gianluca Vincentini, Nicholas Leichter, Professor Robert Reed, and Gerri Houlihan. Drabant has furthered her training by attending various dance festivals and intensives such as the Trinity Laban Summer Program in London, England; the American Dance Festival Winter Intensive in New York City; the Motor City Tap Festival in Detroit, Michigan; and the Bates Dance Festival in Lewiston, Maine.

 

 

Drabant has performed professionally for five consecutive seasons with the Michigan Dance Project, under the direction of Kathy King, and has choreographed for the feature film Needlestick, written and directed by Detroit-based film writer Steven Karageanes. She writes articles for the hyperlocal dance portal site, Dance Panorama, and was featured in Dance Magazine (Sept. 2012) for initiating a tap course at Wayne State University. Drabant is currently a performing apprentice with both M.A.D.D. Rhythms, directed by Bril Barrett, and Chicago Human Rhythm Project's BAM!, directed by Lane Alexander. She is also working towards becoming a certified STOTT Pilates instructor while continuing to teach throughout Southeastern Michigan and Chicago.
